Quaint Lake Michigan cottage with easy beach access

This charming cottage sits near the shores of Lake Michigan amidst low dunes. It is shaded by large conifers and hardwoods. It has a three-season room and a deck, both great for vacation relaxation. As of 2020, there is also air conditioning for the most sweltering days.

In five minutes, you can walk to a gorgeous wide-open beach that is clean and sandy — ideal for sunning and swimming. The walk to the beach is over a footbridge and dune path. The owner’s adjacent home is also well-maintained with flower and vegetable gardens.

Guests can walk north for miles along the beach. Or, for more serious exercise, head out on a run or bike ride via nearby shaded roads or designated bike trails. It is truly a beautiful location.

Please note this is a non-smoking cottage. We do not allow smoking inside, outside, or at our beach. Thank you for your consideration. The property does not allow boats or RVs.

  • Perfect stay for a family

We just returned from a four day stay at the lake house. It was the perfect size for our family, but is on the smaller size so if you have kids or teens that want a lot of personal space you may want to take that into consideration. The house is set back a good distance from the road, so we felt safe having our kids run in the yard. The trek to the beach is down a lot of stairs that is to the right of the owners house and across a dune, but we were able to do it with our three kids under 8. The hardest part was getting a cooler down there because you couldn’t drag it most way. But once you are down there it is worth it. The beach is amazing and the water is shallow for a very good amount out. Perfect for our family. We spent an entire day there with very tired kiddos afterward. In town montague foods had everything you need. And you must try pekadill for sandwiches and ice cream one day!!

One small thing that was never mentioned is the washing machine is in the cellar with the entrance outside of the house. Took us a minute to find it!

Overall a wonderful stay and one of our favorite locations.

We stayed at the Lake House for the first time this year. We loved how close it is to Medbery Park as that is where we always have gone for sunsets. All the information that we needed was sent to us before we left. The check in process was very easy. We were told what time to check in and everything was ready when we arrived. My wife spent several days at the beach collecting rocks and even found a few Petoskey Stones. It was a great vacation and we are already planning on returning next year. Thanks again for everything.

We had a wonderful time at the Lakehouse! What a lovely welcome with the jazz music playing and the goodies on the kitchen counter! The house was adorably decorated and incredibly clean upon arrival. The owners were very nice and so accommodating. The location of the cottage is perfect! Easy access to the beach either from the back across the dunes or just down the road to the public access to the beach. And the rental company has excellent customer service! Can’t say enough great things about our stay! Hope to come again someday! 🙂
